Wal Mart receives subsidies from our Governments

Susan Brannon This is an older video about the effects of allowing a Wal Mart store in your neighborhood. Not only does Wal Mart cause small family businesses to close down and thousands of "better" jobs lost that provided medical and pension care. But they encourage their poverty workers to take advantage of the governments hand outs so they can "survive"; thus causing extra spending of our own tax dollars in aid for those who even work full time. But wait! There's more! Wal Mart has received millions of dollars in subsidies from local and state governments to put in their stores, while the 43 year old business down the street receives nothing. So, what does Wal Mart do for America? (and I must say other large retail stores) extra spending of our tax dollars loss of better paying jobs in the communities keeping people in poverty discriminates against women causes small businesses to close down requests unpaid work time closes American factories because they buy from China more loss of jobs. The squandering of the American Dream (for the non-corporate owner, that is) So, let a new Wal Mart store come into your neighborhood today and receive all the benefits!

Oh and don't forget that Corporations are here to make a profit, that is capitalism. So if you are a small business owner and you can't "pull the weight" well....that is your problem.

He is the first and only person running for the president of the united states with swiss bank accounts and in foreign countries with tax shelters and tax avoidance schemes.  Romney's father, filed 12 years of tax returns and said that this should be standard.  Romney, his son has only filed one tax return.
Why would anyone need a Swiss bank account, 1) to conceal your wealth 2) or think that the Swiss franc is stronger than the US dollar.  Romney moved his money over under a Republican president.

Romney replied," I am not the money manager, and I don't know where the accounts are."  The day before Romney was sworn into governor, he transfered the money into a money trust under his wife's name, which is a tax haven.  Why would someone running for the highest office in the land, conceal his financials.  Ask Romney, "Have you paid your fair share in taxes?"

George Zornick From the Nation says, "Romney won’t disclose what money he may be hiding overseas, but we do know where his donors put their billions. Ten of the eleven top contributors to Mitt’s campaign (who contribute through political action committees and employees, not directly) abuse offshore tax havens, and some are the most notorious in the business for doing so. Citigroup, for example, has over 1,200 offshore tax havens, and is the sixth biggest donor to the campaign. Nation writer George Zornick went on The Ed Show last night to shed more light on why the presumptive GOP candidate needs to open his books now."

Trained for: 3rd brigade in Iraq (I was inbedded with them, as a photojournalist). They are called CCMRF, they are a "well trained" and trusted brigade.

US Wasting Billions in No-Bid Contracts in Wars

Following up on my defense contractors, this video states that there has been 60 billion dollars in waste. No bid contracts gives a "free ride" to the contractors who go into the war zones, to spend whatever they feel that they need to spend for services, private securities, translation services, without a good system to over see the contractors to see the "quality" of work. Non competitive contractors are KBR, has grown to a 37 billion dollars in 10 years without competition. KBR was owned by Halliburton, owned by Cheney before he was Vice President. This is Part one of two.

Houston, we've got a problem.  Those were the days when we were mainly concerned about the space shuttles going into space.  Today is a different story.  The attempt to come to an agreement over the U.S. debt falls into the gutter.  Republicans blame the Democrats and the Democrats blame the Republicans.  Following the news of the collapse, the FAA is wiping 4,000 people from their books,  Walter Reed Medical Hospital is closing its door while wall street and major corporations prepare for a possibility of default. Murdoch's reign collapses while scandals grow from sea to shining sea.  No one is going to Hampton this summer.

Shuffling through all the headlines it is difficult to find out who, what, where and when.  The most important words in journalism.  There are threats of cutting down with Social Security and Medicare over the course of 10 years. 1 trillion in savings that would come from the "draw-down" in the wars, in the next ten years.  I thought Obama said that he would withdrawal the troops by October of 2010? 

The Republicans want to cut Medicaid, but Obama was not comfortable with that idea. The idea of taking from those who do not have anything is a bit impossible.  If anything, if we cut down on Social Security and Medicare, we will gain in our costs of health care due to the lack of preventive care for the elderly.  Did not the elderly build our country?  Did not the elderly pay taxes and pensions all of their lives? 

They could gain 800 Billion in revenue if they eliminated the top-end-Bush tax cuts.  The Republicans did not go for that idea.  We are not left with much of a choice, but to raise the debt limit without Congress and call for a 1.5 trillion in cuts.  The Gang of Six wanted to slash 3.7 trillion over ten years, and gain 1 trillion through tax code reform.

It looks like Obama will have a difficult time getting re-elected next term, for it seems that he has been put between a rock and a hard place.

Here is the list of Public Debt by recent administrations...
Regan (1981-1988) - 1.26 trillion added to the debt (8 years)
BushSr (1989-1992) -0.81 trillion (4 years)
Bill Clinton (1993-2000) 0.13 Trillion (8 years)
GWBush - (2001-2008)- 2.48 trillion (8 years)
Obama (2009-2011)- 4.35 trillion (3 years)

The numbers for Obama do not look good here. He spent more money in the attempt to create more jobs by developing a stimulus plan.  That did not work.  Our wars continue, and the debt increases.  Our Social Security debt is the same as our war debt at 701,893,976 and adding by the minute.

However, there are some different numbers since Obama's administration:
The total federal outlays for the fiscal year 2010 was 3.456 trillion, was down 64 billion from a year earlier.
Incomes were up by 58 billion, to 2.162 trillion.
The budget gap was 177 billion less than the previous estimates in July, due to lower than forecast spending and higher than expected tax collections.

Yet, the Federal Reserve attempts to support the economy more than doubles its profits to...get this...75.8 billion.  The increase reflects income from its purchases of more than 1.75 trillion in Treasury debt and mortgage-backed securities.

Who has been benefiting from our spending and debt?  Why the Federal Reserve of course, not to mention a few defense contractors "repairing" the war damage and feeding the troops.  Oh, I forgot to mention the banks, and GE who profited from the bailouts to begin with.  GE now holds 91 billion in cash, 40 billion in short term debt, compared with 16 billion in cash and 90 billion in short term debt three years ago.

Thank you Boehner for letting America down by walking out of the meeting and not solving any problems.

First Kuwaiti General Trading And Contracting
•    founded in 1996, and soon became a go-to subcontractor for Texas-based contractor Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR)
•    (2008) given the contract to build the new U.S. embassy in Baghdad, despite lacking experience in embassy construction and entering a bid that was $60 million higher than the lowest bidder. project has been plagued by gross mismanagement, labor mistreatment and shoddy construction work. Cost overruns have raised its ultimate price tag from an original $550 million to upwards of $1 billion. But despite documented evidence of First Kuwaiti’s wrongdoing, State Department Inspector General Howard Kronguard continuously defended the company’s performance and thwarted investigations into the embassy project. •    Completed a housing facility for the embassy’s security personnel, but the structure was shut down shortly after it opened. Problems included fuel leaks, dysfunctional appliances, toxic fumes and melted electrical wiring.
•    Reports that the company engaged in human trafficking. Workers from the Philippines, India, Nepal and elsewhere claimed the company lured them with the promise of well-paying jobs in Dubai and Kuwait, but instead flew them to Baghdad and confiscated their passports. •    Bush-appointed State Department inspector general — guess what — has found no evidence of any wrongdoing. (NYT)

•    Partners for Anti-Corruption with the World Economic Forum
•    Board brimming with former high-ranking military officials (as well as the wife of former CIA director R. James Woolsey, (See below listings of Board members)
•    Descended from partnership with the Bin Laden family’s primary financial conglomerate,, bringing its own multi-billion dollar clout throughout the world
•    Has a majority partnership with and is controlled in large part by the bin Laden family's holding company, Saudi Investment Corporation (SICO). (SICO partnered with the Fluor subsidiary American Daniels Realty), SICO is managed by Osama bin Laden's brother and close Bush family associate, Yeslam bin Laden, who, while claiming to be estranged from Osama for decades shared a joint bank account in the ‘90s with the Al Qaeda leader.
•    Flour has paid tens of million dollars in refunds and fines for abuse and overcharging the Defense Department, the Department of Energy and others.
•    Flour has a contract worth nearly $4 billion to manage the Hanford nuclear site in Washington state, designated the most contaminated site in North America. The company fired whistleblowers who complained that Fluor's cost cutting created health and safety hazards at the high-level site. The Supreme Court ordered Fluor to pay the whistleblowers more than $4.7 million in damages but, surprisingly, the U.S. government reimbursed the company millions of dollars in legal costs associated with the case.
•    Has been charged with the abuse of black workers and financial fraud in apartheid-era South Africa in two undecided multibillion-dollar lawsuits.
•    Board member Suzanne Woolsey is the the former CIA director who advocated strongly for the Iraq war and sits on the boards of many companies who have profited immensely from his influence in government. She joined Fluor's board of directors in 2004, and during her tenure, Fluor has received billions of dollars in Iraq reconstruction contracts. Through her trusteeship at an arms consulting group, her membership to the Council on Foreign Relations, and her directorship of the Institute for Defense Analyses, Suzanne Woolsey makes recommendations--often benefiting Fluor--to senior Pentagon leaders directing the Iraq war.
•    Ken Oscar, Fluor's vice-president of strategy, was formerly Assistant Secretary of the Army, where he was in charge of procurement and acquisition,
•    Phillip Carroll stepped down as Fluor's CEO in 2002 to work for the Pentagon on plans for Iraq's oil sector in the event of war. President Bush in 2003 appointed Carroll to oversee the rebuilding of Iraq’s oil industry, while Carroll still owned 1 million Fluor shares. The Iraqi Oil Ministry has since doled out hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to Fluor. Carroll is also a top executive of the British defense contractor, BAE systems, with billions in contracts from the defense dept.
•    U.S. Admiral Bobby Ray Inman, who headed the National Security Agency, was vice director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and was Deputy Director of the CIA, also served Fluor's board from 1985 to 2003.
•    The U.S. Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im), which is supposed to underwrite financing for small to mid-size U.S.firms exporting to emerging countries.   Philip Merrill, as head of Ex-Im from 2002 to 2005, instead secured credit for huge Iraq contracts awarded to Fluor, and other insider behemoths, such as Halliburton and Bechtel.   Billions of Ex-Im dollars disappeared in Iraq under the politically hard-wired Coalition Provisional Authority. In July 2005, Merrill resigned from Ex-Im after an ongoing dispute with the Bush administration over his refusal to approve a billion dollar loan guarantee for China.
•    In 2006, Merrill’s body was found in the Chesapeake Bay, with an anchor tied to his ankle, and a shotgun blast through his head.

Orascom Construction Industries- Cairo, Egypt

•    A foreign company based in Egypt, receiving our tax dollars.
•    June 01, 2010, Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) had acquired Royal DSM’s Agro businesses
•    The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Royal DSM, the global life sciences company based in the Netherlands, announced a partnership to improve nutrition in the developing world through better micronutrients with Royal DSM
•    Case No. 10 Civ. 9527 just filed on Dec. 22, 2010 against “unknown purchasers,” and Royal DSM is involved. The case centers on insider trading immediately prior to the announcement that Royal DSM would buy all the outstanding shares of Maryland based Martek Biosciences Corporation-at a 35% premium over the market price.
•    Orascom Construction Industries has been buying natural gas with Algeria at local market price. It has been almost for free for 25 years. The company needed the gas for its fertilizers factories in the province of OranAlgiers). On the other hand, it does not have any necessary technology to work in fertilizers and petrochemicals sector. (Echo Rouk Online)
•    Sawiris clan owns Orascom and might easily be pegged as cronies of the old regime. After all, Orascom, the family's commercial empire (which Naguib runs with his two younger brothers), is the largest private employer and the largest Egyptian company by market capitalization — and, though started by Onsi under former President Anwar Sadat, Orascom really took off in the past few decades under Mubarak. Naguib is also reportedly a friend of Mubarak's son and heir apparent, Gamal, who was the driving force for economic reforms that included privatizations of state firms.  (Time)

IAP also has a corporate tie-in with Halliburton-KBR on multi-billion dollar Iraq contracts.
•    IAP Chief Executive Officer Al Neffgen, who joined the company in December 2004, served as KBR's chief operating officer of government and infrastructure for the Americas, 

1. while President Dave Swindle was vice president of KBR's business acquisition and national security programs before joining IAP in April 2005. Chuck Dominy, a retired Army lieutenant general, joined IAP in July 2005 after serving for years as Halliburton's chief lobbyist in Washington. (Kwait Times)

IAP was founded in 1990 by a former Army logistician as the United States was preparing for "Operation Desert Storm," and now has 5,500 employees. Cerberus became majority owner in May 2004

•    Former Treasury Secretary: John Snow's Cerberus Capital Management LP owns Cape Canaveral, Fla.-based IAP, which is led by former executives from Halliburton's engineering, services and construction subsidiary KBR (formerly Kellogg, Brown & Root). KBR is currently the Army's sole contractor for providing food and shelter to the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the Army now wants multiple contractors for these services and KBR is bidding again. Some defense analysts are predicting both KBR and IAP, which is run by former
•    Mr. Snow's Cerberus Capital Management LP owns Cape Canaveral, Fla.-based IAP, which is led by former executives from Halliburton's engineering, services and construction subsidiary KBR (formerly Kellogg, Brown & Root).

•    Americans were suddenly awakened to the demonic nature of the cabal and its Bush junta: it was revealed that their greed for profits had led to wounded American war veterans at Walter Reed Army Hospital being housed in rat-infested quarters and receiving sub-standard medical service. This entire calamity was created by the Bush junta privatizing services at Walter Reed. •    IAP Worldwide Service received a $120 million contract to run portions of the hospital's services called facilities management. Immediately after, facilities management staff was reduced from 250 to 50 privately employed workers. IAP Worldwide Services received the contract in spite of its being found to have provided substandard service in fulfilling its multi-million dollar contracts in providing military support in Iraq and in failing to provide ice cubes to Katrina victims.
•    Walter Reed, is only the latest in a long line of serious problems involving the company and its officers. IAP’s President, Alfred V. Neffgen, was formerly Chief Operating Officer for KBR's government operations group, which was forced to repay tens of millions of dollars to the Defense Department for food and fuel overcharges in Iraq.
•    IAP is also tied-in with Halliburton/KBR on multi-billion dollar Iraq contracts. Halliburton is a major defense contractor once headed by Vice President Cheney, that has had its own history of problems with fraud and overcharges related to its management of sole-source projects in Iraq, particularly the multi-billion dollar LOGCAP contracts to provide privatized logistics, food and housing for US forces in Iraq, and the similar no-bid RIO contract awarded to KBR to repair and maintain Iraq’s oil fields and pipelines. • April 2011 - a federal jury in Brooklyn found Zohrab B. Marashlian, the former president of Perini Corp.’s Civil Division, an international construction services corporation, guilty of fraud and conspiracy to launder money while working on Ground Zero. The owner, tutor Perini paid Marashlian $14 million in salary while all this was going on.  Two days before Marashlian was to receive a multiyear prison sentence, he committed suicide. (WordPress)
• Tutor Perini is Richard Blum, the husband of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee – which oversees the U.S. Department of Defense  (See Washington Group Intl)
• In 2004, Perini agreed to pay the federal government $998,500 to settle fraud claims in the construction of an embassy building in Venezuela (BBC)
• The companies are embroiled in an 11 – year legal battle over $16 million in extra costs on a Los Angeles subway job.” “Perini sued for more than $170 million in cost overruns on three New York City projects during the 1990s before settling for about $22 million.”

•    Amount paid to KBR, a former Halliburton division, to supply U.S. military in Iraq with food, fuel, housing and other items - $20 billion
•    Portion of the $20 billion paid to KBR that Pentagon auditors deem "questionable or supportable" - $3.2 billion
•    RIO, or Restore Iraqi Oil, was awarded to KBR without competition when the United States Department of Defense determined that KBR was "the only contractor that could satisfy the requirement for immediate execution of the plan" 
•    June 2008, Charles M. Smith, the senior civilian Defense Department official overseeing the government's multibillion-dollar contract with KBR during the early stages of the war in Iraq said he was forced out of his job in 2004 for refusing to approve $1 billion in questionable charges to KBR. Smith refused to approve the payments because Army auditors determined that KBR lacked credible records to support more than $1 billion in spending.
•    In May 2010, it was reported that KBR was selected for a no-bid contract worth as much as $568 million through 2011 for military support services in Iraq. (Business Week)
•    “KBR connected to Fraud Pentagon Auditor Says” "the vast majority" of suspected combat-zone fraud cases that have been referred to investigators, as well as a majority of the $13 billion in "questioned" or "unsupported" costs, (Washington Post)
•    Not to mention past allegations of KBR avoiding paying hundreds of millions in federal Medicare and Social Security taxes by hiring workers through sell companies based in the tax haven of the Cayman Islands.  More than 21,000 people working for KBR in Irag, are listed as employees of two companies.  KBR admits setting the companies to save on taxes. •    Bribing Nigerian Officials by paying tens of millions in bribes. (Find Law)
•    Soldiers have been electrocuted from faulty wiring in Iraq while KBR explained that they were only to repair broken items, however they installed improper electrical devices.  They were handed a corrective action, in “serious noncompliance” However, shortly afterwards they were awarded a 35 million dollar contract for major electrical work. •    Lockheed Martin Corp. claimed L-3 Communications and its subsidiary, L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, Inc. (collectively referred to as “L-3 Comm” in the lawsuit), deliberately misappropriated its proprietary specifications and designs associated with its P-3 series of marine patrol, anti-submarine aircraft. Lockheed accused L-3 Comm of improperly using the data to secure a contract with the government of South Korea to refurbish eight of the Lockheed planes. In May 2009, a jury found in favor of Lockheed and awarded it over $37 million in damages.
•    L-3 Government Services, Inc., agreed to pay $1.9 million to settle False Claims Act and Program Fraud Civil Remedies Act allegations of fraudulent overbilling on information technology support services contracts. An investigation found that L-3 employees were routinely entering nine hours on their time sheets when in fact they only worked eight
•    L-3 Joint Operations Group (JOG), were temporarily suspended from receiving any new federal contracts or orders, including those under its Special Operations Forces Support Activity (SOFSA) contract. The notice of temporary suspension was issued by the Office of the Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. Air Force on June 4, 2010 and relates to an on-going governmental investigation of L-3 SSPD concerning the alleged inappropriate use of an e-mail system.
•    According to the April 30, 2007 Report to Congress of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR), a criminal investigation found evidence of fraud involving Mohamed Abdel Latiff Zahed, a linguist employed by L-3 Communications subsidiary Titan Corporation. "CID approached Titan with evidence of fraud and received reimbursement of all funds fraudulently received by employee." Funds recovered from the contractor totaled $31,985.
•    Faheem Mousa Salam, an employee of L-3 Communications subsidiary Titan Corporation in the International Zone in Baghdad, Iraq, was charged with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The criminal complaint, filed in federal court in the District of Columbia, alleged Salam offered payments to Iraqi police officials in exchange for contracts to supply the Civilian Police Assistance Training Team, Multi-National Security Transition Command – Iraq, with protective vests and other equipment.
•    L-3 Vertex Aerospace, a subsidiary of L-3 Communications Corp., paid $4 million to settle allegations that it submitted false and inflated claims to the Army for work on a contract to provide helicopter maintenance services in Iraq.

•    Built the Police Academy in Iraq and finished in 2006, by July 2006 the building had crumbling walls and sewage running from the ceilings and walls. The cost? $72 Million.  (NYT) Essentially, when they put in the plumbing, they had no fittings, so they just joined plumbing pipes, cemented them together," he said. "The connections burst once they started to be used, and the sewage thus leaked from the bathrooms down through the building — and into light fixtures and through the ceilings."  By Sept 2006, Parsons offered to repair the damage at no extra cost. the American officer affiliated with the new project to repair the problems described an “elaborate and costly effort to tear out and replace the plumbing on entire floors. The problems were so severe, the officer said, that the military had also been obliged to build new latrines outside and demolish some structures entirely and start over.” (Chuck For)
•    Most of the Iraq reconstruction contracts have been awarded through a particular type of troubled contracting vehicle, the Orwellian-sounding "Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity" (IDIQ). IDIQs allow the government to award an unspecified amount of future work to approved contractors For example, the January 6, 2004 contract awarded to Bechtel, which teamed up with Parsons of California, is for an amount up to $1.8 billion to repair the infrastructure of Iraq over the next 24 months. In other words, Bechtel and Parsons have an effective monopoly over any future tasks or services up to $1.8 billion. (POGO)
•    scandalous abuse of taxpayer dollars in the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) program. SSC subcontractor, Parsons Brinckerhoff/Morrison Knudsen (PB/MK), PB/MK appears to be taking advantage of the nature of their contract with DOE, and has been reimbursed for many costs that appear to be excessive.
For example PB/MK has been reimbursed:
 $3,030 for an office desk and $1,107.10 for Christmas cards;
$21,369.18 for office plants and their upkeep in a single year;
$18,403.87 for coffee supplies over a fifteen month period;
$1,257,884.32 for travel costs over fifteen months, or an average of $83,858.95 a month;
$1,626,605.71 for relocation costs over fifteen months, or $3,891.40 per employee if every employee were moved to the SSC facility 30 miles south of Dallas; and
 $293,668.34 for automobile leasing and rental expenses over fifteen months.
•    The last time two of the consultants overseeing Mecklenburg County's light rail and mass transit plan worked on a large-scale project together, they were responsible for an 80-foot sinkhole, thousands of lawsuits totaling over $1 billion, and a trail of fraud and corruption so long that even the FBI couldn't untangle it. Now they're advising Charlotte Area Transit Officials on our transit plan and helping to design it. when Bechtel-Parsons Brinckerhoff was hired to oversee it, the project had an estimated cost of $2.6 billion and a completion date of 1998. Today, the project has a projected completion date of 2005, and its price tag has ballooned to $14.6 billion and climbing. documented $446 million in additional waste on the project because cost-reduction methods weren't applied. The cost of overruns was 2.2 billion dollars (Public Purpose)
•    more than $500,000 in campaign contributions from subcontractors, lobbyists, lawyers and other firms connected to Parsons-Dillingham and EMC
•    review in April of a $243 million contract held by the Parsons Corp. to construct primary health care centers across Iraq revealed that after more than two years and $186 million, only six of the planned 150 centers were complete. . . . (Founders V. Bush)

•    ECC contracted with ArmorGroup in 2007 to perform Security in Afghanistan. relied on rival Afghan warlords -- including some considered Taliban supporters -- to provide the manpower for the company's security force at the base. (Gov Exec)
•    The patriarch of the family that controls ECC pleaded guilty to obstructing a federal audit (after racketeering and fraud charges were dropped) in connection with an investigation of abuses of Small Business Administration programs for minority enterprises. He had previously been involved in a bribery case in North Carolina. (HSDL)
•    1995 Congressman Scott McInnis raised questions about ECC’s performance $5 million in overpayments to ECC, prompting McInnis to say that the company’s contract—which ballooned from an initial $500,000 to some $70 million—was a “sweetheart deal.”
•    probe concerned members of the Sabharwal family,
who were said to control ECC as well as another company called Environmental Health Research & Training Inc. (EHRT), which had been barred from government contracting after being convicted of bribing an EPA official at another location.29 In May 2000 Pritam Sabharwal, his sons Paul and Shawn, and several other relatives and associates were charged with racketeering activities ranging from bribing public officials to mail fraud
•    2005, ECC hired former Rear Admiral Charles R. Kubic—who had served as Commander of the 1st Naval Construction Division and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Engineer Group in Iraq— as president of ECC International and made him a member of ECC’s board of directors. ECC International has received contracts for school repair in Iraq.
